In Development

Each language holds a world. In remote Papua, the internet is arriving—what will endure, what will change?

In a remote village in Papua New Guinea, elders Dono and Eni have spent decades embracing change—welcoming missionaries, building an airstrip, introducing currency. Now, with high-speed internet on the horizon, their son Ishmael faces a more intimate question: how to carry forward his ancestral language in a world increasingly shaped by Tok Pisin and global media. As the village connects to the outside world in new ways, the community works to ensure that the old ways are not left behind.
