Written by Academy Award winner Antwone Fisher, Alayna places users in the role of a caseworker navigating the emotional and complex process of removing children from their homes. Shortlisted for an Emmy, the module uses interactive simulations where users make decisions, interact with virtual clients, and receive real-time feedback to build confidence and improve performance.
To prepare, I consulted social workers and visited group homes in Baltimore. Filming was emotionally challenging and shot entirely on a green screen, with environments composited in post.
These 2D clips are excerpts from a 3D immersive experience. The first shows an interactive conversation with Alayna in her group home. The second depicts the final scene on the street following her transition into foster care.
