I grew up next to an emergency room in a small New York City apartment. In high school, my friends and I created Roboshithead, a cult public access show known for its extreme humor and raw expression. Later, at Tisch’s graduate film program, I teamed up with a classmate to form Peking, sparking the “Sadvertising” movement with viral documentaries and music videos, including our Cannes Lion Grand Prix-winning Skype series.
Now working solo, my films take a more personal vision, exploring people—their dreams, struggles, and contradictions—through work that blends humor, emotional depth, and a fascination with how we connect and understand each other.
Living in my hometown keeps me part of an eclectic, inspiring community. My wife, Leah Boatright, a documentary editor, is both my creative and life partner. When I’m not behind the camera, I’m yelling at the Knicks, singing nonsense to my son Cosmo, or figuring out what’s next.
